The reporter learned that the 2025 Shanghai Science and Technology Festival will officially kick off on May 17, lasting for two weeks. This year's festival is themed "Technology Makes Life Better" and aims to deeply engage cutting-edge technology with urban life through a technology carnival shared by all.

This year's Science and Technology Festival has set up six major thematic activities, including the opening ceremony, conferences, open activities, competitions, media science popularization, and the closing ceremony. According to current statistics, during the Science and Technology Festival, 48 science popularization bases will offer special discounted prices to citizens, and 56 key laboratories and major scientific facilities will be open to the public.

Since its establishment in 1991, the Shanghai Science and Technology Festival has developed over more than 30 years from the first government-led science and technology festival in the country and the second in the world named after a city, into an important platform for Shanghai citizens to understand science and experience innovation.

Compared to previous technology festivals, this year's technology festival focuses on three main directions.

The reporter learned that on May 17, a refreshing pop-up space for science and technology art will appear in the dome square of Zhangjiang Science Hall - AI science red carpet. For the first time on this year's AI science red carpet, XR was used to expand the space of the real landscape, and through AI imperceptible motion capture technology, the movement data of guests was collected in real time to achieve virtual and real interaction. This year's red carpet lineup is strong, inviting outstanding scientists from basic research, strategic science and technology, science and technology services and other fields, representatives of global scientific research institutions, U35 young scientists, directors of international science and technology museums, and representatives of top universities and science and technology enterprises.
