Techub News: According to a joint interpretive guide on crypto assets issued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), "digital commodities" are clearly defined as crypto assets whose value derives essentially from the programmatic operation of cryptographic systems and supply-demand dynamics, rather than from profit expectations generated by reliance on core management actions by others. Such assets do not possess passive income or provide holders with intrinsic economic attributes such as enterprise profits or asset rights, and therefore do not fall within the scope of securities. The document lists 16 example assets explicitly classified as digital commodities: APT, AVAX, Bitcoin, BCH, ADA, LINK, DOGE, Ethereum, HBAR, LTC, DOT, SHIB, SOL, XLM, XTZ, and XRP.
