About Opium (OPIUM)

Use Cases and Features

OPIUM is used to participate in governance of the Opium protocol. Holders can propose initiatives, delegate and vote. Proposals requiring on-chain action are voted on through on-chain transactions, with voting power based on wOPIUM held when the proposal is created.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

The listed minted supply is 100 million OPIUM, and the initial allocation is projected rather than a promise of individual rewards. The plan assigns 60% to an active-users fund, unlocked gradually under usage criteria and active-user definitions periodically set by governance, then distributed retroactively to eligible active community members. A further 16% is assigned to early backers and advisors, vesting continuously over the following two years.
