Why Did LayerZero (ZRO) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

LayerZero confirmed that the Zero mainnet and lzATLAS trading engine are scheduled to launch on November 30, with 75% of net fees designated for ZRO buybacks and burns. This links token value capture to actual platform usage, while the scale of buybacks will still depend on trading volume after launch. Anchorage Digital selected LayerZero as stablecoin interoperability infrastructure, with Tether’s USAT set to be among the first to integrate; this provides additional ecosystem context alongside the launch plans. During the report period from 2026-10-20 to 2026-10-21, sell-side order-book depth was substantially greater than buy-side depth, while technical signals diverged: moving averages were bullish on the 1-hour and 4-hour charts but bearish on the 15-minute chart, and RSI was neutral across all periods. The 4-hour ADX reading of 11.05 indicated weak trend strength. These historical observations describe market conditions at the time and do not by themselves establish that the events caused the current move.

About LayerZero (ZRO)

LayerZero is an Omnichain Interoperability Protocol designed for lightweight message passing across chains. It provides authentic and guaranteed message delivery with configurable trustlessness, implemented as a set of gas-efficient, non-upgradable smart contracts.

Use Cases and Features

ZRO is the LayerZero network token. LayerZero is used to connect messages and asset interactions across different blockchains; in its economic design, once the protocol fee switch is enabled through governance, additional protocol fees can be used to repurchase and burn ZRO. Stargate revenue is also used for ZRO buybacks, but buybacks do not mean holders receive a fixed return, and the token price can still be affected by the market, unlocks, and implementation of the mechanisms.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

ZRO has a total supply of 1 billion tokens. Its supply structure includes unlocked tokens and tokens still under vesting, involving the LayerZero Foundation, strategic partners, and core contributors; therefore, unlocking progress may affect the amount available to trade on the market. Official materials also note that some tokens associated with strategic partners were repurchased and relocked.
