About Kai Protocol (KAI)

Use Cases and Features

KAI is Kai Protocol's algorithmic stablecoin running on Klaytn. It can be purchased and deposited in a liquidity pool. This does not guarantee a fixed relationship: 1 KAI does not always equal 1 KUSDT, so they are not always equivalent. Under the contraction mechanism, KAI holders can purchase bKAI at a 1:1 ratio using KAI. The KAI used for that purchase is burned and excluded from the circulating supply; the asset contributed is KAI, while the asset obtained is bKAI.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

Under the mechanism document’s 6 January 2022 update, expansion requires the round-start TWAP to exceed $0.995. Additional issuance uses circulating KAI, calculated as supply minus Treasury reserves, and the applicable issuance rate. Contraction purchases of bKAI with KAI at 1:1 are subject to the protocol’s purchase quota and bKAI circulation cap. KAI used is burned and removed from circulation; bKAI is the separate token received.
