What is CHEX?

In other words, resource consumption is first included in the relevant fee paid by the user, then represented and settled in CHEX under network rules; users may not necessarily see a separate payment labeled as a CHEX gas fee. This mechanism links issuance and trading activity with CHEX's resource utility, but “fees include resource costs” does not mean that all fees are paid directly to any holder. How fees subsequently enter the relevant pools and are distributed depends on the fee type and the staking or liquidity mechanism.

After staking CHEX, participants can receive a portion of platform resource fees in proportion to their stake relative to total staked amount. If distributable fees for a settlement period are F, an individual's effective stake is S, and total effective stake is T, then, assuming all other eligibility conditions are the same, that individual's share can be expressed as F × S/T. Fee sources and settlement timing are not the same: the fee pool related to asset issuance is distributed gradually over one year, while trading-related fees can be made available to stakers immediately. Gradual distribution means that issuance fees already generated are not all settled at the same time; immediate availability also does not mean the amount is fixed.

Are CHEX staking returns fixed?

CHEX staking returns are not a fixed rate. The distributable amount first depends on the resource fees actually generated by the platform and included in the relevant pool; once that amount is determined, an individual's share also changes with their own effective stake and total effective stake. The white paper also distinguishes liquidity participation: participants who provide CHEX and corresponding USD liquidity to an automated market maker may enter a different fee-distribution pool. This is not the same participation path as a staking-only fee pool, and no historical or expected distribution should be converted into a guaranteed annualized return.

How was CHEX issued and allocated?

The white paper lists CHEX's current total supply as 1.25 billion tokens. Of its initial 1 billion tokens, a 2019 Dutch auction distributed 600 million tokens to participants, while the team and business operations each received 200 million; an additional 250 million tokens were later issued to Chintai, resulting in the 1.25 billion figure stated in the white paper. Total supply describes the total amount of tokens issued or set under that metric and should not be equated directly with the freely tradable circulating supply at a given time. Because the website's statement that “all tokens are circulating and no more will be issued” is inconsistent with the white paper's description of additional supply, the supply history stated in the white paper is used here; it cannot be used to assert that no other rule changes will occur in the future.

What is CHEX's burn mechanism?

Chintai states that it will use 5% of the value it generates to purchase CHEX on the open market and permanently burn it. The process first determines value generated under this mechanism's definition, then uses 5% of it for market purchases, and finally permanently removes the acquired CHEX from usable status. Buybacks and burns reduce existing tokens that are actually purchased and burned; they do not automatically reduce total supply by 5%, nor do they amount to paying returns to holders. Buyback size, market execution, and other supply changes can all affect the net result in a given period, so price or returns cannot be inferred from the burn mechanism alone.

Does staking CHEX guarantee an airdrop?

Not necessarily. Some clients issuing assets on Chintai may choose to airdrop a portion of their issued assets to CHEX stakers; whether an airdrop is made, which assets are distributed, and the applicable conditions are determined by that client. Therefore, staking is one prerequisite for possible participation in this type of client-selected arrangement, not a promise of receiving an airdrop. Even if a client chooses to conduct an airdrop, an individual's eligibility should be assessed according to its published eligibility, snapshot, allocation, and claim rules.

CHEX's mechanisms can be divided into three paths: issuance and trading activity generate fees that include resource costs; eligible staking or liquidity participants receive a share of certain fees under their respective pools' rules; and Chintai's stated value mechanism uses 5% of generated value for market buybacks and burns of CHEX. The three paths are related but should not be conflated: fee revenue is not a fixed return, a staking share is not ownership of all network revenue, and burns are not distributions to stakers. Whether each path produces an actual result depends on platform activity, specific rules, and participation conditions.
