Cetus Protocol – a decentralized exchange on the Sui network – has sent a proposal to the hacker to return 20,920 ETH (~56.3 million USD) after a $223 million attack. The hacker is offered to hold on to 2,324 ETH (~6 million USD) as a "white hat" reward if they cooperate.

The stolen funds have mainly been transferred to Ethereum, with a portion swapped for USDC and then exchanged for ETH. Cetus claims to have patched the smart contract vulnerability and is coordinating with Inca Digital to trace.

Sui Foundation and the validators of the Sui network also took action, declaring to "ignore" transactions from the hacker's wallet to protect the ecosystem. According to Cetus, 162 million USD in stolen assets has been suspended from trading.

However, the validators' coordination to block transactions has caused controversy in the community, as many question the decentralization of Sui.
