Vitalik Buterin proposed optimizing Ethereum nodes to drop the barriers for users to run them.
On May 19, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin proposed adjustments to the Ethereum scaling roadmap in his latest research post, aiming to incorporate a "local node-oriented" strategy to alleviate the increase of Gas limits and provide a more user-friendly solution for running full nodes.
Buterin emphasized that the important value of personal nodes lies not only in on-chain verification but also in meeting the needs for privacy and censorship resistance when local RPC reads chain data.
Buterin's suggestions include speeding up the full implementation of EIP-4444 (where each Node stores data for only about 36 days), building a distributed historical data storage solution, and adjusting the Gas mechanism to increase the cost of new state storage while dropping execution costs.
Among them, Buterin also proposed a new model of "partial state nodes," which is based on the core idea of changing the synchronization method between nodes and the network, so that nodes no longer need to store all the data of the entire blockchain, but only keep the information that is necessary for ordinary users. This design can also significantly reduce the storage space and computational resources required for node operation.
In addition, this proposal also involves other optimization measures for the Ethereum network, including improvements to data storage and retrieval mechanisms, as well as adjustments to the network's gas pricing strategy to accommodate new data storage and synchronization patterns. These changes will help the Ethereum network improve its scalability and user experience while maintaining decentralization and security.
Through these measures, Buterin hopes to promote the healthy development of the Ethereum network while providing support for Layer 1 scalability, aiming to avoid reliance on centralized services and making efforts to protect user privacy and security.
However, the final implementation of this proposal will be a long-term process that requires extensive discussion and cooperation within the community, as well as in-depth analysis and evaluation of technical details, to ensure that the interests of all parties can be balanced and achieve sustainable development of the network.
In conclusion, Vitalik Buterin's proposal may have a significant impact on the future of Ethereum. What do you think these optimizations will have on the Ethereum network?
