Both sides exchanged views on the current tensions in the Middle East. Boulanger said the French side is deeply concerned about the escalation of the situation in the Middle East region and the negative impact of the fighting on the global economy. China and Pakistan’s five-point initiative on restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and the Middle East region aligns relatively closely with the French side’s position. The French side is willing to stay coordinated with the Chinese side to promote the restoration of peace and stability in the region. Zhai Jun said that as the fighting continues to escalate and spills over, it threatens peace and stability in the region and undermines global economic and energy security. China and France are both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council; they should uphold fairness and justice, work together to promote peace and stop the fighting, help cool down tensions in the region, and support the parties concerned to return to the right track of dialogue and negotiations.
