1inch Business Rolls Out MCP Upgrade for Rapid Agentic DeFi Development - Crypto Economy
TL;DR:
1inch launched Business MCP (model context protocol), an infrastructure designed so that artificial intelligence agents can integrate directly with its DeFi APIs and execute on-chain operations autonomously. The tool targets developers and companies looking to build automated trading flows, bypassing most of the technical complexities.
The protocol expanded on the previous version of the MCP launched last month, which initially offered basic connectivity between AI coding assistants and the 1inch ecosystem through three functions: documentation search, example discovery and code retrieval. The new version covers a complete set of 15 APIs, including Swap, Balance, Portfolio, Token, Gas Price and Transaction, all configurable from environments such as Cursor, VS Code, Claude, Codex, JetBrains and Gemini through a single-line integration.

AI Agents: The New DeFi Interface of 1inch
Sergej Kunz, co-founder of 1inch, explained the logic behind the new MCP model: “Agents, not humans, will execute most swaps before 2030. However, the agent economy cannot eliminate market competition. Trading outcomes remain defined by data quality and execution. Poorly informed agents will underperform even the most skilled humans.” Under that premise, the choice of infrastructure becomes as strategic as the algorithm that operates it.
Developers will retain explicit control over automated flows. They can define rules on supported chains and token pairs, set slippage and execution limits, and choose how transactions are signed. The system supports all 1inch swap types, including classic, intent-based and cross-chain, as well as gasless transactions, multi-agent coordination and automation with configurable policies.

The documentation embedded in the server is dynamic: it updates continuously and is fully indexable within the developer’s workflow, eliminating the need for manual external searches. According to the company, the goal is to reduce integration times that previously took days down to a matter of minutes.
