According to reports, the FSC (Financial Services Commission) is evaluating the introduction of a “preventive freezing” mechanism — simply put, directly freezing accounts before suspects of price manipulation have a chance to cash out.

This approach is actually moving closer to stock market practices. What’s the problem with the crypto market now? Law enforcement is too passive. It requires going through legal procedures and applying for court orders, and by the time the process is complete, the culprits have already fled. The new mechanism aims to change this lag, making regulation more proactive and timely.

The FSC is also researching trading suspension systems. Don’t underestimate this — it represents a fundamental shift in regulatory thinking — from post-incident accountability to mid-process intervention. In other words, scrutiny will be much stricter on high-frequency trading, algorithmic trading, and sudden abnormal fluctuations.

Timing-wise, this comes right at the second phase of South Korea’s crypto legislation push, with regulatory focus including stablecoin standards and market manipulation prevention. If these policies actually take effect, the overall market enforcement environment will tighten significantly, and requirements for trading participants and platforms will also increase accordingly.
