[WATCH] Introducing Momint – The First South African NFT Platform Accepting ZAR Payments

South Africa has joined the popular and lucrative non-fungible tokens (NFT) space with the launch of Momint – a local NFT marketplace.

Momint is a platform for local content creators and celebrities in South Africa to sell their work.

So far, the platform has sold a 3D turntable of South African rugby superstar, Bryan Habana, for over $20, 000 during a 2-day auction.

South African celebrities that have listed their work on Momint include:

• Bryan Habana – Former rugby union player
• AB de Viliers – Cricketer
• Goldfish and The Kiffness – Musicians
• Diipla Khosla – Influencer
• Dan Mace – Filmmaker

Headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa, the startup has reportedly raised over $2 million from both local and foreign investors with the ultimate goal of making the platform global.

According to Minsk, Co-Founder & COO, Momint:

“On Momint, NFTs can be sold via auction or directly to a fan for a fixed price. The only cost to the creator is a 12% auction fee or a 0.5% direct sales fee that Momint charges once it is sold.”

Unlike other NFT platforms that only use cryptourrencies, Momint allows users to use fiat currency, specifically the South African Rand (ZAR) to make purchases on the platform.
