Redbelly Network Token (RBNT) Price

RBNT is the native cryptocurrency of the Redbelly Network Layer 1 blockchain. It is both the payment unit for on-chain transactions and the asset the network uses to collect fees, require nodes to provide economic security, distribute participation incentives, and support governance; therefore, RBNT should not be confused with test tokens distributed by a testnet faucet.

On Redbelly, users pay Gas required for transactions and smart-contract execution in RBNT, but the fee target is denominated in U.S. dollars. A simple native transfer consumes 21,000 Gas, and the documentation gives a target fee of US$0.01, meaning the price per unit of Gas is approximately US$0.000000476190476190; the total fee for contract deployment or calls depends on the Gas actually consumed. During block execution, the network reads the on-chain USD/RBNT price feed and then deducts the amount of RBNT that covers that U.S. dollar fee. Therefore, when the market price of RBNT changes, the amount of RBNT required for the same operation may differ, while the design goal is for its U.S. dollar cost to remain unchanged. This mechanism can estimate the U.S. dollar cost before execution for operations with known Gas usage, but does not mean that every operation is charged a fixed US$0.01.

RBNT enters the network security mechanism through node staking and fee incentives. To participate in mainnet, each Governor or Candidate node operator must stake 100,000 RBNT; if a node is found to have acted maliciously, its stake may be slashed. This requires entities participating in consensus to bear a quantifiable economic cost. Security is not generated by staking alone. Redbelly's DBFT is leaderless consensus: nodes jointly propose and validate transactions rather than relying on a single block-producing leader; provided that malicious or faulty nodes are strictly fewer than one-third of the nodes participating in consensus, the documentation states that the network can still reach consensus. Staking is the economic layer that constrains node behavior, while DBFT is the protocol layer through which nodes agree on transaction order and validity.

RBNT has a fixed total supply of 10 billion tokens. This figure is the protocol-defined upper limit on total supply; it does not equal the amount circulating, unlocked, tradable, or controlled by a single account at any particular time. The white paper also states that some allocations begin vesting by week starting in the months after public-market listing, with completion depending on the release schedule for the relevant category; ecosystem development and reserve allocations may also be subject to customized release arrangements. Therefore, total supply, allocation arrangements, and the amount actually available to circulate should be considered separately, rather than inferring market supply directly from the fixed total.

RBNT is listed in the white paper as one of the assets used for network governance, but the governance transition remains key to understanding its role. The white paper describes the Redbelly Network Governance DAO as responsible for protocol governance, token dynamics, ecosystem support, and network-wide economic and policy decisions; meanwhile, while the network is in its bootstrapping phase, governance functions other than treasury management are undertaken by Redbelly Network Pty Ltd until the DAO is established and the transition plan is completed. Therefore, “RBNT is used for governance” does not mean that any holder can already directly decide every matter, nor does it mean holders have equity, dividends, or redemption rights in that company. The specific matters that can be participated in and the transition status depend on the governance processes implemented at the time.

Redbelly announced its mainnet launch in November 2024; this means that RBNT moved from a development-use role in a test environment into the role of a native network asset on an operating mainnet. The announcement describes RBNT as an asset for secure transactions, network governance, and operational efficiency. Before mainnet, the testnet was used to validate the network and applications, and test tokens could be obtained through a faucet; the purpose of test tokens was development and testing, and they cannot be regarded as mainnet RBNT or used to infer tradability or mainnet economic utility. The mainnet-launch announcement also mentions fixed Gas, near-instant finality, and a fork-free guarantee; these are operational characteristics of the mainnet, not rights associated with test tokens themselves.

Node rewards come from the distribution of network transaction fees, rather than being generated automatically simply by holding RBNT. Governors, Candidates, Identity Partners, and the Redbelly DAO share transaction fees; among the node portion, a Governor's share is twice that of a Candidate. Node operators must also remain available and pass random eligibility checks; prolonged offline status may result in forfeiture of unvested incentives. Fees are paid in RBNT, with their U.S. dollar value targeted to remain stable. The documentation uses a simple transaction of 21,000 Gas as an example to explain a typical benchmark fee of US$0.01, and states that to prevent spam requests, the network may enable higher congestion pricing for limited periods. Accordingly, node revenue is jointly affected by transaction volume, transaction Gas usage, node role, availability, and possible congestion pricing, and cannot be inferred from a single fee rate or holding amount.
