Why Did Ontology (ONT) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

At 19:00 on 2026-10-31, the hourly candle recorded volume of 545 units and a price range of just $0.0002, indicating light trading at that time. In the order book during the report period, sell-side depth across the top five levels was about 17.8 times buy-side depth, with a depth ratio of 0.06. The largest sell order was at $0.04773; the largest buy order was at $0.04671, at the 20th buy level, indicating concentrated near-side selling pressure while the larger buy order sat farther from the market. Such a thin, imbalanced book can magnify the effect of small orders, but does not by itself prove it caused a price move. Technical signals were mixed: the one-hour moving average was bullish, but ADX was 10.68, indicating very weak trend strength. RSI was neutral across timeframes and MACD showed no crossovers, so there was no multi-timeframe confirmation of a clear trend.

About Ontology (ONT)

Ontology (ont) is a new generation public infrastructure chain project and distributed trust cooperation platform, including complete distributed ledger and intelligent contract system support. The ontology architecture supports the public chain network system. In addition to providing basic public chain services, it also supports customization of public chains for different applications through the ontology blockchain framework, and chain network cooperation through different protocol groups. On the basic layer, the ontology will continue to provide common modules in various distributed applications, such as distributed identity framework, distributed data exchange protocol, etc., support distributed trust and cooperation components, and will continue to expand new common modules according to application requirements. • Scalable lightweight universal smart contracts. • Scalable wasm contract support. ♦ Cross chain interaction protocol. • Support for multiple encryption algorithms. • Highly optimized transaction processing speed. • P2P connection link encryption. • Support for multiple consensus algorithms. • Fast block generation time.

Use Cases and Features

ONT is the value and governance token of the Ontology network. Holders can use ONT to participate in network governance voting and consensus-node elections, and support network operations through native staking; staking ONT can earn ONG. Everyday on-chain transfers, smart-contract execution, and decentralized-application interactions primarily consume ONG rather than ONT, so using the network usually requires understanding the distinct roles of both tokens.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

ONT is Ontology's native token, with official materials listing a total supply of 1 billion tokens. Ontology uses a dual-token design with ONT and ONG: ONT is used for network governance, node elections, and staking; ONG is the network's Gas token, used to pay for transactions, smart-contract execution, and dApp interaction. Claimable ONG generated from holding ONT depends on the amount held and the holding period.
