How does Netswap perform token swaps?

Netswap performs swaps through automated market maker (AMM) pools: instead of placing an order with a counterparty in an order book, users trade with a liquidity pool holding two tokens. The relationship between the balances of the two assets in the pool determines the relative quote for a swap; a swap reduces the balance of the asset bought by the user and increases the balance of the asset sold by the user, thereby changing pool balances and affecting quotes for subsequent trades. The cost of a swap does not depend only on the displayed price. The larger the trade relative to pool depth, the more noticeably it changes pool balances, and the execution result may differ more from the pre-trade quote; in addition, on-chain fees required by the network to process the transaction must be paid. AMMs can provide continuous pool liquidity for trading, but they do not guarantee that trades of every size execute at the same price.

What can liquidity provision earn, and what are the risks?

Providing liquidity means depositing funds in two assets as required by the pool and receiving LP tokens representing a share of that pool. Holding LP tokens is not a fixed-rate deposit: they represent the user's entitlement to pool assets and fees accrued according to that share; when exiting, the user withdraws the two assets corresponding to that share at that time, rather than a fixed amount of the assets initially deposited. Netswap pool documentation states that each trade charges a 0.3% trading fee, of which 0.25% is added to the relevant liquidity pool. Thus, an LP's fee share comes from actual swap activity, rather than automatically guaranteed returns. At the same time, when the relative prices of the two tokens change, arbitrage trades adjust the asset ratio in the pool; the asset mix an LP receives upon exit may differ from simply holding the two assets initially deposited, which is the risk of impermanent loss. Whether fees can offset that difference depends on trading volume, the price path, and the holding period, and cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Merely holding LP tokens does not automatically mean participation in a farm. Netswap documentation lists that farms can distribute NETT, and some farms may also distribute another token. Rewards come from the incentive arrangement set for that farm, and users generally need to claim accumulated rewards through the interface or contract; to recover LP tokens, users must first exit the farm and then redeem liquidity according to pool rules. Reward tokens, distribution rates, eligible pools, and displayed annualized yields all vary with the conditions of a particular farm, so a value on one page cannot be treated as a fixed result for every farm or every period.

The practical effect of governance is that, if a proposal passes through the applicable process, it may change which liquidity the protocol incentivizes or which functional directions it adopts, rather than automatically giving every holder a fixed return. “Able to discuss or propose” should be distinguished from “already in effect.” A governance idea changes the rules users actually face only after going through the governance procedures applicable at that time and, when necessary, being implemented in relevant parameters or contracts; the initial governance model itself does not prove that any subsequent proposal has passed or been executed.
