After revoking your delegation to a candidate, you must go through the waiting period specified by the protocol before executing the exit; a candidate that wants to leave its delegator set is subject to a different waiting period. The documentation lists waiting periods of 2 days or 7 days, depending on the operation performed. The purpose of the waiting period is to allow on-chain staking status to settle according to the established rounds, rather than changing immediately after a request is submitted. Candidate risk must still be considered during the waiting period: if a candidate fails to perform its duties or engages in misconduct, the related delegated stake may be slashed.
