Why Did Mintlayer (ML) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

The order-book data show a thicker sell side, while the overall balance remains relatively even: the top-five bid-to-ask depth ratio was 0.68, with 7,210 units on the bid side and 10,613 on the ask side. A 5,705-unit sell order at $0.005343 accounted for 53.8% of the top-five ask volume and could create short-term resistance to a rebound. The largest sell order was at $0.005387, for 39,508 units, but its inclusion in the top five was unclear. These orders indicate only potential liquidity pressure; they do not prove selling or price suppression and cannot substitute for technical support and resistance levels. A depth ratio below 0.67 marks the sell-dominant range, while a ratio above 1.5 indicates stronger bid-side support. A single order-book snapshot cannot establish persistently low liquidity, and without usable candles, volume, or technical indicators, these factors cannot be cross-checked against price movements.

About Mintlayer (ML)

Mintlayer is a layer 2 protocol that allows users to build a decentralized finance ecosystem using native Bitcoin through atomic swaps. Users can create tokens, NFTs, smart contracts, and so much more!

Use Cases and Features

ML is Mintlayer’s native utility token. Mintlayer is a Bitcoin sidechain using proof of stake (PoS, participation in network consensus through staking) and supports native token issuance, atomic swaps, and order trading. ML can pay network transaction fees and token issuance fees; holders can help secure the network through staking or delegation to a staking pool and receive block rewards, and may also provide input on network development.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

400 million ML were created at mainnet launch, with additional block rewards released gradually, for a maximum supply of 600 million. Blocks produce ML rewards during the first ten years, after which no further rewards of this type are added; certain network operations, such as token issuance or supply changes, burn ML and reduce the total supply. Initial issuance allocations have different unlock schedules.
