Why Did Mintlayer (ML) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

The order-book snapshot at 10:00 UTC on 2026-10-29 showed a top-five-level bid-to-ask depth ratio of 0.10, with total ask volume about 9.7 times total bid volume. One sell order made up 97.4% of ask depth, while one buy order accounted for 74.0% of bid depth. This concentration imbalance constrained upside at that time, while the buy order offered brief support; a single snapshot cannot establish the intent behind orders. Single-period volume at that time was only 125,285 units, indicating limited liquidity. Among technical indicators, the four-hour moving average was bearish and ADX was 73.06. Daily RSI was in oversold territory and the moving average was bearish, but MACD gave no signal across the listed timeframes, while the 15-minute and one-hour indicators were neutral. A market capitalization of about $2.02 million places the asset at small scale, where order-book changes may have a more pronounced effect; these historical indicators and depth describe only that snapshot and do not determine subsequent direction.

About Mintlayer (ML)

Mintlayer is a layer 2 protocol that allows users to build a decentralized finance ecosystem using native Bitcoin through atomic swaps. Users can create tokens, NFTs, smart contracts, and so much more!

Use Cases and Features

ML is Mintlayer’s native utility token. Mintlayer is a Bitcoin sidechain using proof of stake (PoS, participation in network consensus through staking) and supports native token issuance, atomic swaps, and order trading. ML can pay network transaction fees and token issuance fees; holders can help secure the network through staking or delegation to a staking pool and receive block rewards, and may also provide input on network development.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

400 million ML were created at mainnet launch, with additional block rewards released gradually, for a maximum supply of 600 million. Blocks produce ML rewards during the first ten years, after which no further rewards of this type are added; certain network operations, such as token issuance or supply changes, burn ML and reduce the total supply. Initial issuance allocations have different unlock schedules.
