Why Did Lido Staked Ether (STETH) Rise in the Last 24 Hours?

STETH is Lido’s liquid-staking derivative for ETH, and its price is generally anchored to ETH. Deviations may reflect a liquidity premium or discount, or pressure from the withdrawal queue. Order-book data for 2026-10-19 to 2026-10-20 showed a 0.75 ratio between bid and ask depth across the top five levels, indicating relatively balanced sides without clear one-sided pressure. However, total orders on each side were below three tokens, so the shallow depth meant that even limited trading could have a larger price impact. This historical order-book data cannot by itself explain current moves, and no distinct catalyst was identified for the report window.

About Lido Staked Ether (STETH)

Lido is an ETH 2.0 liquid staking solution enabling users to stake ETH without locking assets or maintaining infrastructure. It solves ETH 2.0 staking issues like illiquidity and immobility, supporting any ETH amount. stETH, its staking token, powers Ethereum applications and protocols.

Use Cases and Features

Lido Staked Ether (stETH) is a transferable, rebasing ERC-20 token representing ETH staked through Lido. It lets users retain a staking position while using the token for transfers, trading, or DeFi applications; balances adjust with staking results. Protocol withdrawals may still be affected by exit procedures, queues, and limits, and the secondary-market price may also deviate from ETH.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

stETH is minted in the corresponding amount when users deposit ETH with Lido, and corresponding stETH is burned when withdrawing through the protocol. Its total supply reflects the ETH managed by the protocol, staking rewards, and possible validator penalties; holder balances are generally rebased following oracle reports.
