About Ice (ICE)
Use Cases and Features
ICE is used for transactions, participation incentives and governance across the ION ecosystem, and supports the operation of its blockchain and decentralized applications. It pays blockchain transaction fees and enables smart contracts to be deployed and executed, powering applications within the ecosystem. Validators stake ICE to help secure the network; fees, contract functions and staking therefore serve distinct roles.
Supply and Issuance Mechanism
ICE initially operated on Binance Smart Chain with a fixed total supply of 21,150,537,435.26 ICE. Following its migration to the ION blockchain in November 2024, the network transitioned to proof of stake and introduced an annual inflation rate of 6%. Separately, a portion of revenue from ecosystem activities is burned to reduce total circulating supply over time. Ecosystem revenue is also redistributed to support validators, developers and the broader community.
