Why Did Helium (HNT) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

In the order-book snapshot from 2026-10-28, the bid-to-ask depth ratio across the top five levels was 1.35, indicating a relatively balanced book with a slight tilt toward bids. However, a sell order for 5,894 HNT near 0.389 was much larger than the total sell volume across those five levels and could weigh on a short-term rebound. A single snapshot cannot reveal the order placer’s intent or establish that the order persisted. The 15:00 candlestick volume that day was 12,332 HNT, described as extremely low; in a low-liquidity market, limited trading can have an outsized effect on price, so fluctuations need not correspond to a clear news catalyst. Technical signals were broadly bearish, but aside from weakness in the 15-minute moving average, RSI was neutral across timeframes and MACD showed no signal. ADX was below 20 on the 1-hour, 4-hour, and daily timeframes, indicating limited trend strength and no clear direction on those intervals.

About Helium (HNT)

Helium was founded by Shawn fning, Amir Haleem and Sean Carey in 2013. Its mission is to make it easier to build networked devices. With helium hotspot, anyone can earn cryptocurrency by establishing wireless networks in their cities and creating a more connected future. Helium is a point-to-point wireless network established for low-energy Internet of things devices to connect with the Internet. Using the data transmitter of hotspots and other Internet of things devices, network maintainers can prove their contribution to the network and obtain hNT token rewards through the proof of coverage challenges. Proof of coverage is a kind of proof of work (POW) algorithm, which uses electromagnetic waves to verify whether hotspots provide services. HNT tokens can generate data credits to pay information and token transmission fees. Helium network uses a honeybadgerbft based mechanism to reach network consensus.

Use Cases and Features

HNT is the native token of the Helium Network, used to support incentives and use of its decentralized wireless network. Hosts and operators of Hotspots that deploy and maintain network coverage can receive HNT rewards; businesses and developers can pay network fees with Data Credits generated by burning HNT. Helium's network supports wireless data transport for IoT device connectivity and mobile communications.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

HNT was issued when the Helium Network launched in 2019, with no pre-mine. Issuance follows a halving schedule every two years, and the current hard cap is about 223 million tokens. When the network is used, HNT can be burned to generate USD-pegged Data Credits, which pay for transactions and wireless data transfer on the network; therefore, actual usage affects the amount of tokens burned.
