About EOS (EOS)

EOS is a new blockchain architecture developed by blockone, which can provide accounts, identity authentication, databases, asynchronous communication and program scheduling on hundreds of CPUs or clusters. EOS aims to expand the performance of distributed applications.

Use Cases and Features

EOS is used to pay for the CPU, NET and RAM resources that applications consume on EOS Network. EOS EVM, an emulation of Ethereum’s EVM housed in an EOS smart contract, enables developers to deploy Solidity-based digital assets and decentralized applications on EOS. Holders can delegate tokens to preferred block producer candidates; the 21 candidates ranked highest by aggregate delegated stake become active producers.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

A tokenomics proposal would set EOS’s maximum supply at 2.1 billion and have the system issue the remaining tokens required to reach that cap. These changes take effect only after approval by multisignature from at least 15 of the 21 block producers. The proposal sets an initial annual pay rate of 3.617%, equivalent to about 76 million EOS distributed per year, with a four-year halving cycle. This rate describes planned annual distributions, not each holder’s individual reward.
