Token holders can use their voting power to influence governance proposals; the DAO governance process covers community discussion, proposal advancement, and execution arrangements for approved matters. The token itself is not equivalent to an ENS name, nor does holding it automatically set address records, text records, or a primary name.

Q: How can I participate in voting after holding ENS?

Holders must first delegate their voting power to an address; this may be their own address or a delegate. Delegation determines which address can use the corresponding voting power without locking ENS tokens, so the assets remain controlled by the original wallet. In the governance portal, delegated addresses can participate in creating and voting on binding proposals. Snapshot may also be used to express offchain community sentiment, with voting weight calculated from ENS delegated to the voting address; offchain signaling and the binding proposal process are not the same thing.

Q: How was ENS distributed?

ENS conducted a historical airdrop for users who held eligible ENS names on October 31, 2021. That date and eligibility belonged to the distribution rules at the time; they do not mean that users who later register or hold ENS names will automatically receive ENS tokens. Official documentation states that there are no plans for another airdrop, so the historical airdrop should not be viewed as an ongoing benefit of holding an ENS name.
