Why Did Eigenlayer (EIGEN) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

Token unlocks and corporate restructuring may add short-term supply pressure and concerns about fundamentals. On 2026-09-01, 39,488,745 EIGEN tokens completed their lockup and were allocated to insiders, about 4.49% of circulating supply, potentially creating expectations of selling; this does not establish that tokens were actually sold. Eigen Labs laid off 29 employees, about 25% of its workforce, and the restructuring may heighten market concerns about operational pressure. In 2026-06, the company secured $70 million in funding led by a16z Crypto. In the order-book snapshot at 2026-10-22 12:00 UTC, the top-five-level bid-to-ask depth ratio was 1.38, indicating a broadly balanced book. A bid wall at $0.2213 and an ask wall at $0.225 represented short-term support and pressure, respectively; a single snapshot does not reveal participant intent. K-line volume at that time was about 30,609 units, and thin liquidity may amplify moves caused by limited funds. The 1-hour RSI was in oversold territory, while moving averages were bearish; longer timeframes lacked clear direction, leaving mixed technical signals.

About Eigenlayer (EIGEN)

EigenLayer is a protocol built on Ethereum that introduces restaking, a new primitive in cryptoeconomic security. This primitive enables the reuse of ETH on the consensus layer. Users that stake ETH natively or with a liquid staking token (LST) can opt-in to EigenLayer smart contracts to restake their ETH or LST and extend cryptoeconomic security to additional applications on the network to earn additional rewards.

Use Cases and Features

EIGEN is the EigenLayer ecosystem token. It complements ETH restaking by providing cryptoeconomic security for Actively Validated Services (AVSs), and can be staked to support services using this security model.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

EIGEN has an initial total supply of 1,673,646,668.28466 tokens, excluding subsequent inflationary issuance. The initial allocation is 45% to the community, 29.5% to investors, and 25.5% to early contributors. Inflationary issuance initially equals 4% of the initial supply per year for eligible participants and may be changed by governance.
