Why Did Eigenlayer (EIGEN) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

The one-hour candle at 12:00 UTC on 2026-10-21 ranged from 0.2356 to 0.2373, with trading volume of 9,458.78 EIGEN, indicating subdued activity during that period. The bid-to-ask depth ratio across the top five order-book levels was 3.90, with total bid volume exceeding ask volume; the largest bid was 22,507 EIGEN at 0.2335. Bid orders outweighing asks does not mean buyers are actually executing, and in low-volume conditions order-book depth may not translate into price support. Technical indicators also lacked clear direction: moving averages were bearish on the 15-minute and 4-hour timeframes, but ADX was below 14 across all timeframes, RSI was neutral, and MACD showed no crossover signals. The order book and indicators therefore point to weak liquidity and limited trend strength, without establishing that any particular event caused the price movement.

About Eigenlayer (EIGEN)

EigenLayer is a protocol built on Ethereum that introduces restaking, a new primitive in cryptoeconomic security. This primitive enables the reuse of ETH on the consensus layer. Users that stake ETH natively or with a liquid staking token (LST) can opt-in to EigenLayer smart contracts to restake their ETH or LST and extend cryptoeconomic security to additional applications on the network to earn additional rewards.

Use Cases and Features

EIGEN is the EigenLayer ecosystem token. It complements ETH restaking by providing cryptoeconomic security for Actively Validated Services (AVSs), and can be staked to support services using this security model.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

EIGEN has an initial total supply of 1,673,646,668.28466 tokens, excluding subsequent inflationary issuance. The initial allocation is 45% to the community, 29.5% to investors, and 25.5% to early contributors. Inflationary issuance initially equals 4% of the initial supply per year for eligible participants and may be changed by governance.
