Staking is not the same as using TIA to pay blobspace fees. The former puts tokens to work for network security and reward distribution, while the latter pays for a service when data is submitted. Both use TIA, but they correspond to different parts of the network.

The supply rules later underwent two important changes: the v4 Lotus upgrade in July 2025 reduced annual inflation from about 7.2% to about 5.0%, after which it declines by 6.7% each year until reaching 1.5%; the v6 upgrade in November 2025 reduced it again to about 2.5% and retained the same declining path. Unlocks change the schedule at which existing allocations become transferable, whereas inflation is the protocol’s subsequent issuance path, so the two should be understood separately.
