The role of the governance token is participation in governance over this protocol scope; that is a different relationship from opening, holding, or settling a particular derivatives position on the exchange.

What is the relationship between AEVO and RBN?

The relationship between AEVO and RBN comes from the brand, governance, and token-economic restructuring proposed in RGP-33: it proposed enabling a new AEVO token and allowing RBN and veRBN holders to migrate at a rate of 1 RBN for 1 AEVO in order to participate in Aevo DAO governance. The 1:1 rate is a conversion ratio; it does not mean the two tokens are the same contract or code. The restructuring also proposed winding down Ribbonomics in parallel: halting RBN issuance from each treasury, allowing veRBN lockers to unlock without penalty, and ending treasury-revenue sharing with veRBN lockers. The logic was that, after migration and penalty-free unlocking, the prior locking mechanism and its corresponding incentives would no longer be appropriate to carry forward directly; AEVO’s complete token-economic arrangements were left for later proposals to discuss.

What is AEVO’s supply?

RGP-33’s launch plan stated that 1,000,000,000 AEVO would be minted at launch, which the proposal said was the same total supply as RBN. This describes the proposal’s launch mint and cannot be used to infer circulating supply, tradable supply, or holder balances at any point in time. The proposal also stated that allocation percentages for investors, the team, and the treasury would remain unchanged, and noted that unvested major investor and team tokens would have vesting extended by another year. Total supply, allocation percentages, and vesting progress answer different questions: total supply is not the amount currently circulating, and allocation percentages are not the amount already unlocked.

What is the difference between holding AEVO and trading Aevo derivatives?

Holding AEVO is a token relationship for participating in matters within Aevo DAO’s governance scope; trading Aevo options or perpetuals establishes a derivatives position. The two cannot substitute for one another. Simply holding a governance token does not automatically create a contract position or replace margin requirements for a trading account. When trading derivatives, the margin framework requires an account to maintain sufficient equity for its positions; when account equity falls below the maintenance-margin requirement, positions may enter the liquidation process. Maintenance margin is a threshold intended to keep a position meeting risk requirements during market movements. Whether liquidation occurs depends on the trading account and position conditions, not on whether AEVO is held.
