Monad is launching an airdrop for roughly 225,000 cryptocurrency community members and 5,500 Monad users. The claim period is open until November 2025. This article explains the six eligibility routes for the airdrop and outlines anti-sybil protocols. It details both on-chain and off-chain qualification standards—including high-frequency trading, DeFi deposits, NFT holdings, and social identity verification. The article also breaks down the claim process and node architecture.

At 9:00 PM on October 14 (UTC), Monad officially launched its airdrop eligibility check and claim portal. Claim here: https://claim.monad.xyz.

Airdrop Allocation

This airdrop will distribute tokens to 5,500 Monad community members and nearly 225,000 members of the wider crypto community.

Monad allocated MON tokens through five main pathways, each with several sub-pathways detailed below. Individuals who qualify for multiple sub-pathways can claim the combined token amount assigned to each pathway. The portal uses Privy for identity verification. You can authenticate by signing with your EVM or Solana wallet. You may also link your Twitter, Discord, Telegram, Farcaster, or email account. All authentication processes are completed through Privy.

The claim window closes on November 3, 2025 (UTC).

Anti-Sybil Measures

When creating criteria to identify genuine blockchain power users, Monad considered behaviors that Sybil attackers could easily replicate and instead focused on standards that are hard to fake. Actions like repetitive, low-value transactions are easily automated by bots and are not valid criteria. Allocations to real users would otherwise be far outweighed by those to bots.

Monad ultimately chose standards that identify highly active users both on- and off-chain. For on-chain activity, Monad prioritized users of major DeFi protocols, especially those demonstrating sustained capital commitment, frequent DEX traders, and holders of prominent NFT collections. For off-chain metrics, Monad emphasized verified social identities, participation in social and educational Web3 communities, and contributions to public goods and security research. Monad invested significant effort in manual review and developed two tools—Monad Community Recognizer and Monad Cards—to capture feedback from both its own and the broader crypto community for the selection process.

For on-chain data analysis, the Monad Foundation engaged third-party Trusta AI to help identify and exclude Sybil addresses. Trusta’s expertise in anti-Sybil airdrop allocation was instrumental, and Monad acknowledges the Trusta team for their support.

Eligible On-Chain Users

This segment of the airdrop targets users who have historically created significant on-chain value with EVM and Solana addresses. Eligible users fall into several priority categories:

Frequent DEX traders, including:

  • Users trading on Hyperliquid and Phantom Wallet (spot and perpetuals), and those actively trading tokens issued on platforms such as Pump.fun, Virtuals, and other memecoin venues.
  • Major DeFi protocol depositors: Users who have deposited substantial funds into leading DeFi protocols, including Aave, Euler, Morpho, Pendle, Lighter, Curve, PancakeSwap, and Uniswap.
  • Long-term holders of notable NFTs: Users holding collections such as Azuki, Chimpers, CryptoPunks, Doodles, Fluffle, Hypurr, Mad Lads, Meebits, Milady Maker, Moonbirds, Pudgy Penguins, Redacted Remilio Babies, Sappy Seals, Solana Monkey Business, and Wassies.
  • Recent active DAO governance participants in major Ethereum DeFi protocols: Those who have recently played a role in governance decisions in Ethereum DeFi DAOs.

Eligible blockchain users are determined by snapshot data as of September 30, 2025, 23:59 (UTC), with some criteria based on historical data from previous months.

Monad Cards and Other Qualified Users

The MON airdrop also includes a broader group of crypto community members identified through social graph analysis and initiatives like “Monad Cards,” with the goal of identifying genuine crypto users. While it’s impossible to include every legitimate user, exclude every airdrop farmer or bot, or prevent all double counting, this airdrop focuses on rewarding those with real passion for crypto and making them stakeholders in Monad.

A key component is the “Monad Cards” program, an initiative on Twitter to identify highly active, thoughtful participants in the crypto space. Monad encourages selected individuals to nominate other deserving participants who have not yet been recognized. Regardless of whether someone claimed a card in the first or second wave, or missed their card, all are included in this airdrop.

Monad also includes participants from the Legion Fundraising Platform, Backpack users, Fantasy Top heroes, MetaDAO Token holders, ARC community members, active LobsterDAO Telegram participants, and notable Farcaster users.

Including Security Experts, Researchers, and Others

This airdrop also covers individuals who have contributed to crypto through security research, protocol development, and educational outreach. Monad specifically includes prominent crypto investigator ZachXBT, SEAL 911 members, top Cantina auditors recognized for significant audit findings, and Protocol Guild members identified via Splits contract review.

Students and instructors from initiatives like RareSkills and SheFi are also eligible.
