Why Did Eigenlayer (EIGEN) Fall in the Last 24 Hours?

The combined technical reading is neutral: the 15-minute MACD shows a golden cross, but moving averages are bearish and the ADX is 10.77, indicating a weak rebound trend. Daily moving averages remain bearish, so the short-term improvement has not reversed the weaker structure. The top-five bid-to-ask volume ratio is 0.83, broadly balanced, though the estimated value on both sides is limited and local liquidity could amplify brief moves. The largest bid could provide short-term support if it is within the top five levels; its level is unspecified, so the strength of that support cannot be confirmed. The reported decline in restaked ETH from about 5 million in mid-2024 to 2.6 million, and the reliance of yield premiums on points and EIGEN incentives, could affect expectations for sector demand but do not directly explain this move.

About Eigenlayer (EIGEN)

EigenLayer is a protocol built on Ethereum that introduces restaking, a new primitive in cryptoeconomic security. This primitive enables the reuse of ETH on the consensus layer. Users that stake ETH natively or with a liquid staking token (LST) can opt-in to EigenLayer smart contracts to restake their ETH or LST and extend cryptoeconomic security to additional applications on the network to earn additional rewards.

Use Cases and Features

EIGEN is the EigenLayer ecosystem token. It complements ETH restaking by providing cryptoeconomic security for Actively Validated Services (AVSs), and can be staked to support services using this security model.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

EIGEN has an initial total supply of 1,673,646,668.28466 tokens, excluding subsequent inflationary issuance. The initial allocation is 45% to the community, 29.5% to investors, and 25.5% to early contributors. Inflationary issuance initially equals 4% of the initial supply per year for eligible participants and may be changed by governance.
