KOL Training Guide: How to Expand Audience on Social Web?
Author: katexbt, encryption KOL
Compiled by Felix, PANews
Many people may want to become KOLs and have their own fan base in the encryption field. This article aims to share how to increase the number of fans (on Platform X, but this is also true on most other major online platforms).
Entry requirements:
1. **Select primary and secondary fields. Actively respond to the KOL in that field. Responding and obtaining good feedback in the reply is key from 0 to 1000.
Apart from the encryption field, there must be something else that interests you. Follow these accounts.
It can be electric cars, modern movies, retro movies, comics, culture and politics of another country, retro technology, art, 3D artworks, classical art, programming, AI programming electronics/accessories, and so on.
You should enter these segmented markets, pay attention to the opinion leaders of these segmented markets, and actively respond to them.
Identify key figures: who is the opinion leader, why are they popular?
The main account of concern should be in the encryption field, set notifications for all these mainstream accounts, and be ready to respond at the first time.
Reason: You need to maintain good relationships with opinion leaders in these fields, so that they pay attention to you, and the algorithm will prioritize you. You may be interested in things other than encryption, and focusing on secondary fields can help distract attention from encryption on Twitter.
2. Build meme folder**/**image folder
Never use GIFs on Twitter, they are outdated, and the X platform algorithm will not prioritize them compared to your own images.
This is very simple, download some popular ones, or just download interesting ones, and develop the habit. It would be a plus if you can create your own, but if your account is relatively small, it may be stolen and forwarded by others.
3. **Be sure to check out the latest releases. Follow the headlines and be there first. Post first, make it interesting, and then ask questions later.
Time is important, for example, my most successful tweet last week was to copy 4 screenshots of articles about the Hayden/Meteora team from SolanaFloor. Besides saving 4 photos and adding an interesting comment, I didn't do anything, but I got 200 kaito Yaps points.
Although not proud of it, it is indeed effective.
This type of content, referred to as 'inciting content,' may not be the main content of the account, but can serve as a supplement to tweets and style. All successful CT individuals do this, even Musk.
4. Try not to write more than 2 sentences in one block
For example:
Of course not excessively, but on Twitter, you should write more paragraphs in a complete block. If there are 5 sentences in a paragraph, I would consider how to divide it into 2x2 paragraphs, taking up more space, so that users are more likely to interact.
5. In most cases, it's better to reply with a good picture than just text
Although it is a rumor in the community, it is true. Do not write a long paragraph/article without a good meme picture, this is very important.
6.** Interact with others often and reply as soon as they reply, but make sure that the quality of the account is higher than yours (don't waste time replying to accounts that are only 50 and most likely bots).
7. **Pay attention to those active accounts with ** 2-1 thousand followers
Most of these people are online, they like to chat, you can talk to them about many things, from learning to things, never let them feel bored, and don't make others feel suspicious.
8. Reddit Screenshots and other types of angry bait and comments work well
Reddit is like a parallel CT, where you find some insights, provide one or two sharp comments on the screenshots of the insights, and see if people will react. There are often many interesting things happening, so dig deeper, don't be afraid, and try occasionally.
9. Do not reply to posts that are more than 12 hours (even 4 hours), because users' attention has already shifted to other tweets. Do not expect others to pay attention to your replies, as you are just a small account, and the number of views of the tweet will decrease significantly after 2 hours.
If it is recent, it is worth commenting/replying.
10. Don't add any hyperlinks to your reply to a / post unless absolutely needed (even if you're the author of the original post, just turn it into a long tweet). The algorithm obviously doesn't like this and will take the priority down considerably.
11. Everyone likes original content or content stolen from other websites that has not yet been posted on X.
12. The writing should be good, and the train of thought should be coherent, not too verbose - users don't have time to read too much.
This is why we need to segment, and why simple ideas are more popular.
13. **Pay attention to those who are good at long analysis, and then spend a few hours going back to read every post.
Find every word you find difficult to understand and increase your vocabulary. Understand the conveyed information, and always think:
14. There is a memorable name on Twitter, avoid using any basic names, eth names, sol names, tags, and emoticons in your name, which indicate loyalty to protocols that may not appear again in 2 months.
All of these are terrible, meaningless, and not many people hold them. In addition, you may never want to play any role in the encryption field for a project, because the project's hype may quickly fade, and there is no reason to create your brand around something that may soon go bad. Although .hl .eth .sol are great now, do you still remember Harmony's .one before? Build your own brand.
15. Avoid cursing/excessive cursing, algorithms dislike it
Never argue with others on long tweets and replies, respect others. Every time you engage in a heated and insulting argument, pretend that you are being economically penalized, when in fact you are indeed being economically penalized.
16. **Make people remember you visually through your own writing style, the topics you cover, and personal profile picture covers.
Have a style that allows users to recognize that this is a post from you within 3 seconds of seeing the thumbnail.
This is a repetitive process, and you may need a year to find a style that suits you and get the maximum attention.
17. Before reaching more than 4-5k followers, do not add links to projects/exchanges/**anything in your personal profile.
Even if your followers are twice this number, your coverage is still very small, and even if half of them register (they won't), you won't be able to make money from your small number of followers.
Try to establish a website or Telegram/sub-stack or something else in case you are banned/shut down, providing different writing forms for people to read.
18. When you talk about a topic/airdrop/**chain, Tag the most influential people at the end, they are likely to respond, which is a good foundation.
Focus on niche markets and chains that not many people pay attention to, because the community relationships there are very close.
19. It's a job you need to enjoy and clock in every day, and if you don't like writing about encryption, write something else, reply to something else. Just find something you like.
20. Be sincere. Be yourself.
Do not be afraid to let others know what you are going through and your true thoughts and actions (of course, only to a certain extent).
The "influencer economy" of 2025 is based on one thing – and that is sincerity. You can be really crazy, you can be honest with your mistakes, you can change and "beautify" your content, your image, everything about you. But users (especially those with a bit of experience) will always be able to tell who is sincere and who just keeps attracting attention with bait, no actionable advice, fake portfolios/income statements.
This trend can also be noticed on other platforms such as Instagram, Xiaohongshu, YouTube.
The era of internet celebrities saying 'I am happy every day, smiling, my life is great, I want to share all this with you' has ended.
After 2025, content creators will need to be both honest and relatable, and tell interesting stories, which will be prioritized by the algorithm.
No one wants experts (because there is no real way to distinguish who is an expert and who is not), and no one wants a perfect image (because no one is perfect).
Everyone wants something related to them, primitive, amateur, flawed content - just like all of us.
