Within just three weeks of starting his new presidential term, Donald Trump rapidly restructured the federal government, with USAID becoming one of the most controversial focal points. On Monday, some Democratic lawmakers attempted to enter the USAID headquarters but were stopped by federal security personnel, and they were even denied access to the lobby. Even more shocking is that Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed to be the acting manager of the agency, despite USAID operating as an independent institution for sixty years.
