Harga RAM anjlok! "Hanya dalam satu hari turun lebih dari seratus yuan!" Ada yang menjual dengan gila-gilaan
DDR5 memory prices, which have been rising for several months, have finally seen their first significant drop.
According to market tracking data, this week several retailers in the United States have implemented widespread price reductions on DDR5 memory, with the highest drop for a single kit reaching $100. However, this discount only applies to a few manufacturers, with Corsair’s products seeing the most significant price cuts.
This price drop is reflected across major e-commerce platforms like Amazon US and Newegg, with Corsair’s VENGEANCE series DDR5 memory standing out the most.
For example, the model with a capacity of 32GB and a maximum frequency of 6400MHz is currently priced at approximately $379.99, a substantial decrease from a recent peak of $490, with a drop of over $110. The model with a capacity of 16GB and a frequency of 5200MHz has also seen its price drop from a historical high of $260 to $219.99, offering considerable savings.
It is noteworthy that just a week ago, the price of the 32GB DDR5 memory kits was generally above $450, making this price drop the largest in recent times.
From the current market situation, the price drop is not an industry-wide trend but is concentrated among a few manufacturers, with Corsair’s reductions being notably greater than those of other brands. Nevertheless, this wave of price cuts is still seen as a positive signal by the market, as DDR5 memory prices have risen for several consecutive months, putting significant pressure on users assembling computers, especially gamers and content creators, who are more sensitive to changes in memory prices.
Since last week, the prices of memory modules in the domestic market have also seen a dramatic decline, with the market generally believing that large stockpilers of memory are now liquidating their inventory. However, due to prices still being high, the terminal consumer market’s absorption capacity is quite limited.
“Starting last Saturday, prices just collapsed,” said Mr. Wang, a wholesaler who has operated storage devices for many years, when he met with reporters. He pointed to a new price list in his store, saying, “From yesterday to today, a mainstream 16GB memory module dropped by another 40 to 50 yuan. Last Saturday was even more exaggerated, it dropped over 100 yuan in just one day.”
Mr. Wang mentioned that he has been in the memory business for many years, and the price fluctuations in the market over the past two years have been the largest, with prices changing almost daily, averaging a fluctuation of 50 yuan.
He described the price curve of a 16GB 3200MHz memory module, which is the most commonly purchased by individual consumers: it was about 130 yuan in May last year. Then, starting in the second half of the year, it skyrocketed, reaching a peak of 980 yuan in December last year, and remained at a high level until last Saturday, when it began to drop sharply. The price on March 27 has already fallen back to around 700 yuan.
Regarding the reasons for this round of price decline, Mr. Wang believes it is the result of the interplay between market supply and demand and the mentality of stockpiling. “The fundamental reason is that demand is gone,” he said helplessly, “the price rose too high, and those without a pressing need won’t buy. Compared to before November last year, our sales have dropped by more than 60%.”
Another key factor is the concentrated “liquidation” of previously stockpiled goods. One business owner revealed that many outsiders rushed to stockpile when prices were rising last year, and now that prices have dropped, it has triggered a sell-off, but the market’s absorption capability is not good.
As a result, there is a rare phenomenon of “inversion” in the memory market, where the manufacturer’s ex-factory price is higher than the market sell-off price.
