Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour has called on private sectors’ employers to identify safe areas and guide workers accordingly to ensure safe working environment.
In a social media post, the ministry stated the importance of maintaining a secured and safe working environment for all employees while putting in place necessary measures to safeguard their wellbeing.
The ministry therefore urged employers to implement remote working arrangements where the nature of work permits and ensure a safe, secured working environment for personnel on site.
It further stated that flexible working environment should be implemented including shift and adaptable working hours where appropriate and maintain continous dialogue with employees for stable and transparent workplace.

The ministry noted that private entities should comply fully with conditions stated on employment contracts and labour legislation, including obligations concerning remuneration and employee benefits.
For the part of adhering to safety measures within workers’ accommodation, the Ministry emphasised on designating safe areas within accommodation facilities, while ensuring that evacuation routes and emergency exits are always unobstructed.
It added that employers must provide first-aid kits and ensure the presence of personnel trained in first-aid procedures.
Workers are encouraged to be fully aware of emergency exits and designated assembly points and a prominent display of emergency contact numbers in easily accessible locations throughout the accommodation.
