Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 6th, according to U.S. media Statescoop, the New York State Legislature is reviewing a bill that proposes to ban AI chatbots from providing legal or medical advice, while allowing users to sue chatbot operators for violations.
Senate Bill S7263 was introduced in the previous session and was passed 6-0 by the Internet and Technology Committee last Wednesday local time. It is part of a set of legislative proposals aimed at regulating AI chatbots. The bill mainly targets AI chatbots that impersonate licensed professionals such as doctors and lawyers, prohibiting them from providing any “substantive responses, information, or advice” that may violate licensing laws or constitute illegal legal services.
