Recently, the price of Ethereum has performed strongly, rising by 25% since the beginning of August. However, historical data shows that September may become a roadblock to this rising trend.
Since 2016, the average decline of Ethereum in September has reached 6.42%. This phenomenon has repeatedly occurred in the past few years; for example, after a rise of 92.86% in August 2017, it subsequently fell by 21.65% in September. Similar patterns were also observed in 2020 and 2021.
Currently, the trading price of Ethereum is about $4,759, which is an increase of around $952 from $3,807 on August 1. The dovish remarks by Federal Reserve Chairman Powell at the Jackson Hole meeting pushed the price to briefly break through $4,867.
Although historical data shows a trend of decline in September, September 2025 may break this pattern. The emergence of spot Ether ETFs and Ethereum treasury companies may introduce new variables. It is worth noting that as of August 11, the total assets held by Ethereum treasury companies have exceeded $13 billion.
Additionally, the net inflow for spot Ethereum ETFs in August was approximately $2.79 billion, while spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced a net outflow of around $1.2 billion. This led to a decrease in Bitcoin's market share by 5.88%, falling to 58.19%.
Although historical trends for Ethereum prices in September are not very optimistic, new changes may emerge in the future as market structures and investment tools continue to evolve. Investors need to consider historical data and current market dynamics comprehensively when making decisions.
