Ethereum Foundation executives discuss the possibility of postponing the next upgrade "Fusaka".
Tomasz Stanczak, the co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), called on developers of the cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH) on the 8th to be more aware of the possibility that the major upgrade "Fusaka" scheduled for Q4 2025 (October to December) may be delayed.
According to Mr. Stanchak's post, there seems to be increasing interest in the next upgrade of Fusaka, "Glamsterdam," which is scheduled for Q1 2026 (January to March) or Q2 (April to June). A few weeks ago, he also posted that he suggested to the coordinator to temporarily halt discussions about Glamsterdam and focus on Fusaka.
Fusaka is an upgrade following "Pectra" that took place in May of this year. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin had been calling for the launch of Fusaka's testnet immediately after Pectra was implemented.
Mr. Stanchuk has been appointed as the co-executive director following the organizational reform carried out by the EF in March of this year. He is responsible for management and is also expected to play a role in promoting technological development since his appointment.
From Mr. Stanchak's post this time, it can be seen that discussions about Glamsterdam are taking place to the extent that they might affect Fusaka's schedule.
The post stated that "it is understood that highly talented individuals are working on solving problems that would lead to schedule delays," but also pointed out that "as I have communicated many times, if we cannot cooperate to consistently achieve our goals on schedule, no matter how much we discuss the plans and visions for Ethereum, we will not achieve results."
It is stated that, on top of that, there is an expectation that schedules will become widely and significantly valued.
Implementation of Developer Conference
Mr. Stanchak is questioning whether it may be possible to shorten the development period or improve efficiency by sometimes reducing the number of regularly held developer meetings or by not holding meetings regarding future upgrades when the testnet management schedule is tight.
The Ethereum developer conference was also held on the 7th. At this conference, there were opinions that we should actually focus on the development of Fusaka now.
Regarding Fusaka, it was officially decided in April this year to reduce the upgrade content due to scheduling risks.
