Why do we feel unhappy? Research indicates that having 2 to 5 hours of discretionary time each day leads to the greatest happiness. More than 5 hours can actually drop happiness levels. Less than 2 hours can lead to a busy life, where existence becomes nothing but mechanical repetition, draining the joy out of life; more than 5 hours of free time can easily result in emptiness and confusion. Although we may not want to admit it, human nature can be contradictory and difficult to comprehend.
