Golden Ten Data on May 23, according to three people familiar with the matter, Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team is expanding the use of his artificial intelligence chatbot Grok in the U.S. federal government to analyze data, which may violate conflict of interest laws and put the sensitive information of millions of Americans at risk. This use of Grok is likely to exacerbate concerns among privacy advocates and others that Musk's government efficiency ministry appears to be abandoning long-standing protections for the handling of sensitive data as Trump reshuffles the U.S. bureaucracy. One of the three people familiar with DOGE's activities said Musk's team is using a customized version of the Grok chatbot. The move is apparently intended to allow DOGE to screen the data more effectively, the person said. "They ask questions, let it prepare reports, give data analysis." The second and third people familiar with the matter said that although Grok has not yet been approved within the Department of Homeland Security, DOGE staff also told DHS officials to use it.
