Musk: In the future, political donations will be "significantly reduced".
According to BlockBeats, on May 20, Musk stated on Tuesday that in the future, he will reduce his spending on political campaigns, as reported by Fortune magazine. When asked if he would continue to make political donations in the future, Musk replied, "I will do a lot less in the future." When pressed for reasons, he said, "I feel like I've done enough already." However, he added, "If in the future I see a reason to invest in politics, I will still do it." Musk's decision also reflects a certain disappointment with politics, especially after his experience working with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This department was originally tasked with cutting federal government spending but failed to meet expectations. Musk previously claimed that DOGE could save up to $2 trillion, which is about 30% of the federal government's spending in the last fiscal year. However, he recently significantly lowered his target, and as of last month, the amount he promoted for savings was only $150 billion. In the last presidential election, Musk spent at least $250 million supporting Trump and even hosted some campaign rallies himself. This year, he also participated in an election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, although the candidate he supported ultimately lost.
