5G-A Smart Open-Pit Mining First Launched

China News Service, Beijing, May 18 (Reporter Liu Yuying) ( The world's first cluster of 100 unmanned electric mining trucks, "Huaneng Ruichi," has recently been officially put into operation in a grouping at the Yimin open-pit mine in Inner Mongolia. This marks the realization of large-scale collaboration of "vehicle-cloud-network" under 5G-A technology in open-pit mining production for the first time globally.

The project was jointly developed by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd., Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and State Grid Intelligent Vehicle Networking Co., Ltd., and has established the world's first zero-carbon, unmanned, intelligent open-pit mining transportation system.

The Huaneng Ruichi driverless electric mining truck in the Yimin open pit mine has reached a globally leading level in the industry, capable of continuous operation in extremely cold environments at minus 40 degrees Celsius. As the first driverless mining truck project in China to eliminate the cab, Huaneng Ruichi isolates personnel from equipment and harsh environments, significantly reducing safety risks.

Huaneng Yimin Open-pit Mine Director Shu Yingqiu introduced that the Huaneng Ruichi project has undergone multiple technical iterations and optimizations, achieving functions such as green power drive, intelligent battery swapping, and unmanned driving, with a localization rate of 100%. It has significantly reduced energy consumption and labor costs, lowered carbon dioxide emissions, and improved transportation efficiency and essential safety levels in the mine.

Wang Guofa, director of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Technology for Unmanned Coal Mining, stated that the Huaneng Ruichi project has broken through the bottlenecks of core components of large mining trucks and autonomous driving perception technology, achieving large-scale operation of electric and unmanned mining trucks in open-pit coal mines in high-cold environments.

Xu Gong Group Chairman Yang Dongsheng stated that the Huaneng project integrates core technologies such as unmanned driving, 5G communication, and intelligent battery swapping, marking a significant breakthrough in China’s zero-emission, high-efficiency, and fully intelligent mining equipment field.

Huawei's Executive Director and CEO of Huawei Cloud Computing BU, Zhang Ping'an, stated that Huawei provides artificial intelligence algorithms for open-pit mining operations, accelerating the coal mining industry from "human control" to "intelligent control." In terms of network deployment, the Yimin mining area will increase the number of unmanned mining trucks from 10 to 100 this year, which raises higher requirements for the network's upstream bandwidth, transmission latency, and stability. Inner Mongolia Mobile, in collaboration with Huawei, is adopting 5G-A based on the existing 5G private network.

The 3CC technology upgrade can meet 500Mbps large uplink and 20 milliseconds low latency, providing solid network support for high-definition video return and cloud scheduling of unmanned mining trucks.

Looking to the future, Huawei will continue to work with Huaneng, Xugong, State Grid, and more partners to promote the transformation and upgrade of mining transportation equipment, jointly creating a "safe, efficient, and green" smart mine. )完(
