U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Beijing harshly, stating that China has "completely violated" the agreement regarding tariffs with the U.S. Trump said, "It may not be surprising to some, but China has completely violated the agreement it made with us."

A White House official, Miller, also supported Trump's statements. Miller stated that "we have a wide range of options to hold China accountable," indicating that the U.S. could take new steps against Beijing. Miller also said that they would not allow China to take away the U.S.'s production capacity and that espionage activities conducted through student visas would be halted.

Miller, who argues that China has not fulfilled its commitments to the U.S., stated, "China should demonstrate its commitment to the rules-based international order." Miller also conveyed that President Trump hopes China will prefer the path of "cooperation and finding common ground."

A response came from the Chinese Embassy in Washington regarding these statements from the U.S. side. The embassy spokesperson stated, "China calls on the U.S. to end discriminatory restrictions and to jointly uphold the agreement reached in the high-level talks in Geneva."

The newspaper stated that China and the United States have continued to communicate on various occasions at bilateral and multilateral levels in economic and trade areas, expressing concerns from both sides.
