According to a report from Cointelegraph on May 27, a man in his 20s with Russian nationality was arrested by the South Korean police in Busan on May 27 for allegedly attempting to rob a crypto assets trading operation in Seoul. According to Gangwon Ilbo, the suspect, along with two accomplices, disguised themselves as participants in a crypto assets trading deal to lure 10 South Korean investors to a hotel in the Gangseo District of Seoul, attempting to steal approximately 1 billion won (about 730,000 USD) in cash.

During the crime, the suspect wore a protective vest and attacked the victims with a replica pistol and a telescopic baton, binding them with cable ties. One victim managed to escape and call the police, causing the suspect to flee in a panic without accomplishing their goal. The police found tools used in the crime, including replica firearms, batons, protective vests, and a bill counter, in the suspect's hotel room.

Two other accomplices have fled South Korea, and the police have requested assistance from Interpol in their pursuit.
