The "Battle of a Hundred Mirrors" is about to begin.

Shenzhen "increases investment" in the smart glasses industry

Imagine that in the future, wearing a pair of AI glasses will allow you to order coffee, navigate, make calls, and check information, which will greatly change people's lifestyles. Nowadays, such new scenarios are gradually becoming a reality.

"Whether it is VR, AR or AI glasses, they are actually the same, but with the iteration of technology and the development of large models, the carriers presented are different, and the products will become more and more intelligent and lightweight." Zhang Zhenliu, head of Hengyue Metaverse Science Popularization Center and Shenzhen Augmented Reality Technology Application Association, said in a recent interview with reporters that the evolution of smart glasses has gone through many stages, from the early virtual reality (VR) equipment to the current AI glasses, the technology is constantly iterating, and the application scenarios are becoming increasingly rich.

In recent years, Shenzhen has been accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the eyewear industry. Technological innovations such as Thunderbird and Flash have amazed the world with their impressive product capabilities. On December 19, 2024, LOHO, in collaboration with Flash, officially launched the country's first mass-produced AI glasses - Flash AI "Snap Mirror" A1, perfectly integrating large models, multimodal interaction, and lightweight design, becoming a phenomenal product in the market.

The "Shenzhen Action Plan for Accelerating the Development of Artificial Intelligence Terminal Industry (2025-2026)" released in March this year mentions that a series of artificial intelligence benchmark products will be launched in smart glasses, smart watches, smart headsets, AR/VR equipment and other subdivisions, focusing on specific scenarios and the market demand of the "Belt and Road" to launch cost-effective artificial intelligence wearable devices.

When AI begins to "see" the world, Shenzhen is redefining the way we work, communicate, and perceive the surrounding world with the power of technology. In the coming years, the smart glasses industry in Shenzhen is expected to achieve rapid growth, becoming one of the global leaders in the smart wearable device industry.

Establishing an AI Smart Glasses Industry Alliance

Bao'an accelerates to seize new tracks

In the Jianggangshan National High-tech Park of Xinan Street, Bao'an, there are multiple smart glasses companies, including Xianshun Technology, Yijing Virtual, and Huanwei (Shenzhen) Technology, among others, showcasing significant advantages in industrial chain aggregation.

In the process of ramping up the "Hundred Mirrors Battle" in Shenzhen, Bao'an District has rapidly risen to become an important stronghold of the smart glasses industry, thanks to its unique industrial foundation and policy support. This area not only gathers many technology companies focused on the research, production, and sales of smart glasses but also forms a complete industrial chain from upstream component supply to downstream manufacturing, greatly improving industrial synergy efficiency and innovation capability.

In recent years, these smart glasses companies in Baoan have formed their own R&D achievements and products. For example, Xianxian Technology has developed the world's smallest near-eye display optical system, so that every pair of glasses for daily wear can be upgraded to smart glasses; Its products received widespread attention at the 2025 CES show, with more than 8,000 pairs of smart glasses pre-sold. E-realm Virtual has developed a Qualcomm AR1 commercial development board EVB-AR1, which is customized for smart glasses developers, supports access to multiple AI models such as DeepSeek and ChatGPT, and accelerates the incubation and implementation of innovative products such as AI glasses.

Last year, the Shenzhen Augmented Reality Technology Application Association, the Shenzhen Eyewear Industry Association, and others jointly initiated the AI Smart Glasses Industry Alliance in Bao'an, aiming to integrate upstream and downstream resources of the industry chain and promote collaborative cooperation among enterprises. According to Zhang Zhenliu, many companies have already joined the alliance, which will be beneficial for accelerating the rapid development of the AI smart glasses industry.

Smart glasses companies are emerging one after another.

The industrial chain is gathering momentum.

Why are smart glasses companies emerging in Bao'an? According to Zhang Zhenliu, Bao'an District has a complete supply chain for electronic components, which provides convenience for the research and production of smart glasses.

"For example, Bao'an's enterprise Pengding is a PCB, and there is Luxshare Precision in the ODM field, which are indispensable parts for smart glasses." Zhang Zhenliu said that in Bao'an, the chips, sensors, acoustics, optics, power supplies and other links involved in the intelligence of glasses can quickly find corresponding enterprises, and the industry is gathering momentum here.

It is reported that Bao'an District, as one of the important gathering places of Shenzhen's intelligent terminal industry, has reached the "100 billion" level of industrial scale. According to the Action Plan of Bao'an District on Building an Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Application Cluster (2025-2026), Bao'an District aims to introduce 3~5 industry leading enterprises and more than 600 artificial intelligence enterprises by 2026, form more than 50 artificial intelligence in-depth application projects, and drive the artificial intelligence industry to exceed 55 billion yuan. This shows that Bao'an District has a significant industrial agglomeration effect in the field of smart glasses and related artificial intelligence, and has clear development goals and policy support.

In recent years, Bao'an District has attached great importance to the development of the intelligent terminal industry. According to the relevant person in charge of the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Bao'an District, the work of strengthening the chain, extending the chain, consolidating the chain and upgrading the chain will be carried out around the industrial chain map to promote the high-quality development of the intelligent terminal industry in Bao'an. Relying on the perfect industrial chain ecology, Bao'an District has gathered a large number of intelligent terminal enterprises, with an added value of 24.364 billion yuan in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%, and 601 enterprises above the designated size in the cluster, including 10 A-share listed enterprises, 8 individual champion enterprises in the manufacturing industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and 26 specialized and new "little giant" enterprises. Hangsheng Electronics and other terminal enterprises, more than half of the enterprises are engaged in the manufacture of complete machines, with a strong overall manufacturing foundation, wide coverage of product types, and high flexibility of the industrial chain.

When talking about future development, Zhang Zhenliu stated: "This year the smart glasses market will be very lively, with a large number of products being launched, whether they are audio glasses, glasses with display functions, or smart glasses that integrate display and camera functions, various types of products will emerge in the market." Zhang Zhenliu predicts that in the next decade, smart glasses are expected to achieve technological breakthroughs and become indispensable devices in people's daily lives; by 2035, smart glasses may become a substitute for smartphones.
