Foreign media: If Trump retains Benchmark tariffs on the European Union, the EU will take retaliatory measures

Gate News bot message, according to foreign media reports, if Trump imposes Benchmark tariffs on EU goods, the EU plans to impose retaliatory tariffs on US imports, including Boeing aircraft.

EU officials expect that even after the trade negotiations, the United States will retain some tariffs. The head of the European Union's industrial department, Stefana Sejurne, said, "If the United States insists on asymmetrical agreements, we will need to take retaliatory and rebalancing measures in some key areas," including an agreement to retain 10% tariffs in the negotiation results.

According to a European Union official who declined to be named, negotiations have accelerated, and the European Commission is making every effort to reach a solution that is beneficial to both parties. The U.S. demands include measures related to fish export quotas, which European officials say may not comply with World Trade Organization rules. Many EU countries expect that even if an agreement is reached, most of the U.S. tariffs will continue to exist, including a 10% Benchmark tariff.
