The two countries are expected to reach an agreement on this at the Washington summit to be held this Thursday. Japan's target is to double its domestic shipbuilding output by 2035 compared to 2024. Additionally, the two countries will also cooperate on joint development of rare earths, countermeasures to supply chain disruptions in critical minerals, and dialogue on cyber and economic security.
