On May 16, the "Special Conference on Artificial Intelligence Medical Devices" was held in the Binhu District of Wuxi City, focusing on the deep integration of artificial intelligence and medical devices, discussing the transformation of medical devices driven by AI and the new ecology of diagnosis and treatment. Wuxi's Deputy Mayor Zhou Wendong, Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician Ge Junbo, President of Shanghai Chest Hospital Hou Xumin, and representatives from various enterprises in Binhu attended the event.

At the meeting, the "G3LAB High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Platform" was officially established. The platform is jointly built by the Wuxi Taihu National Tourism Resort, Wuxi Innovation Investment Group, and Jianshi Medical, aiming to establish a full lifecycle cultivation system of "concept verification - technology transformation - product registration - commercial landing" through a novel model of "government guidance + capital support + industry collaboration."

It is reported that this innovative platform will focus on several innovative fields such as structural heart treatment, endoscopic treatment, minimally invasive surgical imaging, neurology and peripheral intervention, urology, etc., gathering policy, capital, and industrial chain advantages resources, introducing top research teams, establishing technology transfer channels, and accelerating the transformation of medical innovation results in Wuxi.

On that day, the platform released 11 key projects, including "AI Surgical Navigation System for Lung Nodule Localization", "Continuous Flow Device Project", "Brain-Computer Interface Project", etc., covering important links in the medical device industry chain such as domestically produced core components, technology service platforms, and terminal intelligent devices, with a total amount reaching 440 million yuan.

"Cross-border collaboration models are particularly suitable for hard tech fields such as AI healthcare," said Wang Xin, Chairman and CEO of Jianshi Medical Technology Group. "The R&D cycle for high-end medical devices generally lasts 5-8 years. The policy support and capital protection provided by the platform will effectively address the various challenges faced by innovative companies, especially the pressure on the capital chain, and provide a better development environment for integrated technologies such as 'AI + healthcare.'"

Currently, the Binhu District of Wuxi City has gathered a number of emerging companies such as Jianshi Medical, Midea Intelligent, and Yuejian Medical. The revenue of the life and health industry in the district is nearly 20 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 14% in medical device revenue. A number of top AI innovation institutions have successively settled in Wuxi Binhu: Shanghai Jiao Tong University CHIPX (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Wuxi Photon Chip Research Institute) released the country's first natural language text-protein large model (TourSynbio™), and Tsinghua AIR (Tsinghua Wuxi Institute Intelligent Industry Innovation Center) incubated the company Wuxi Zijing Zhikang, which developed the "Zijing AI Doctor". The establishment of these AI innovation companies provides strong support for the intelligent development of the medical industry.
