Chief Economist of DBS Group: The blockage of the Strait of Hormuz is unlikely to be resolved quickly

Chief Economist of DBS Group Taimur Baig stated that allowing more ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz is not necessarily the solution some people hope for. Iran is permitting more ships to pass, and some cargo is also going through, but Baig said the frequency of cargo flow is relatively low. “Even for countries like India and Singapore that have safe passages, the transit speed would be much slower, and there’s always a possibility of something going wrong. So I’m not entirely sure this can solve the problem,” he said.
