Mars Finance News, 11 April, multiple UN agency leaders called for an end to the widespread violations of international law that go unpunished in the Middle East. Leaders of various countries stated in a joint declaration that they are “shocked by the ongoing violations of the rules of war and international humanitarian law in the region.” The declaration pointed out, “Even in war, there are rules, and these rules must be respected.” The statement noted, “Just last month, thousands of civilians were killed or injured in the Middle East. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, many of whom were forced to migrate multiple times.” “We call on all parties—whether UN member states or armed groups—to respect their legal obligations to protect civilians (including humanitarian personnel) and civilian infrastructure. All violations must be held accountable.”
