Tech. Phoenix News, March 12, according to Bloomberg, in the face of users’ increasingly growing dating fatigue, the well-known dating app Bumble has officially launched an AI assistant called Dates. This feature is positioned as a user’s personal matchmaker and is designed to understand user needs through in-depth conversations, thereby breaking the traditional “swipe matching” model.

It is reported that this new feature is supported by Bumble’s internally developed AI model Bee. After users choose to enable it, the AI will collect information via private chat on topics such as values, dating goals, communication styles, and lifestyle habits. When the system identifies two people with a high degree of fit, it will send matching notifications to both parties along with a detailed summary of compatibility. Bumble emphasizes that the content of conversations with the AI will be strictly confidential; users can customize which conversation topics are allowed to be shared; and the tool absolutely will not automatically generate conversations or replace users in sending messages.

The company’s founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd stated that today’s online dating model is shifting from random discovery to precise search, and the role of AI will be similar to a “personal shopping guide,” aimed at eliminating the “emotional friction” between matching and meeting. At present, the Dates feature will be offered free of charge as a pilot project to some selected users, and the company says it may be converted into a premium paid service in the future. Meanwhile, industry competitors are also rolling out AI applications intensively, including Match Group, the parent company of Tinder, and Grindr, to reverse the trend of subscriber loss from platforms.
