On the afternoon of March 29, the D3665 train from Guilin North to Zhuhai was trapped in a tunnel between Foshan and Guangzhou South Station for more than 3 hours, with all power out in the carriage. Some passengers told Jimu News reporters that it was very stuffy in the carriage, and some children cried from the heat, but the crew did not allow them to get off the train or break the windows.

On that afternoon, the 12306 customer service replied to Jimu News reporters that the train was delayed due to heavy rain in Guangzhou. The “Guangzhou Railway” issued a statement saying: At around 15:00 on the 29th, strong rain and tornadoes affected the Nanguang High-speed Railway and Guiguang High-speed Railway between Guangzhou South and Foshan West Station, and the Guangzhan High-speed Railway had foreign objects hanging on the contact network between Foshan and Liwan, resulting in varying degrees of delays for some passing trains. The railway department initiated an emergency plan and carried out urgent repairs immediately.

At 19:30 on March 29, a passenger on the D3665 train told Jimu News reporters that the train resumed service at 18:30 that evening. During the train’s delay, several passengers apparently fainted, and multiple ambulances arrived to take these passengers to the hospital for treatment. The aforementioned passenger also told reporters that they had received a text message from the railway department stating that they would compensate for the fare of the section from Foshan to Guangzhou.

On the evening of the 29th, the “Guangzhou Railway” issued another announcement, stating that after the railway department’s all-out repairs, at 18:12 on March 29, the foreign objects on the contact network between Foshan and Liwan of the Guangzhan High-speed Railway were cleared by 18:35, and the equipment failure was eliminated, and the train operation order was gradually recovering. The railway department expressed its apologies for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to train suspensions and delays.
